Obsession

It's been a while since I obsessed about our readership statistics, so let's dig into it for a minute, shall we?

One of the most important things we do at conferences is sign up people to our mailing list. Getting strips by email isn't for everyone (that's why we have the website, RSS feed, and, well, books) but it's how the majority of our readers get the strip and so we use it as a metric. At ALA we signed up a record 500 people and Gene just finished adding them to our list, vaulting us well to about 7200.

Add website visits and the increasingly popular RSS feed and we are handily over 12,000 readers a day, especially when you consider that there's a large pass-around factor with the emails. 12,000 is a lot. We're not PVP with a claimed 80,000 readers, but then we haven't been around since 1998 either. We'll get there. Thanks for reading.
