It's become our tradition here at Overdue Media to take a moment every six months to look back at what we've accomplished, see where we're at, and make increasingly poor guesses as to where we're going. Today marks two and a half years since we started publishing Unshelved and a full three years since we started developing our little comic strip about a library. In that time we've grown from zero to over 12,000 daily readers, including over 7,500 who receive the strip in their daily email and another 1000 who use that newfangled RSS feed. The rest of your read it on our website or someone else's. And that's not counting the many offline readers who read our strip in those wireless devices we have come to call "books." Welcome to all of you who are new to the strip, and a big hello to those of you who have toughed it out since the start.
The biggest news of the last six months is that we are now distributed by Diamond Book Distributors. This means people can (and do) walk into any book store or comic shop and order our books if it's not already on the shelf. And any library can order our books through their normal suppliers. We used to list all the stores and libraries that stocked our book but we had to stop because we can't keep track!
Speaking of which, in February we released our second collection What Would Dewey Do?, which proceeded to break the sales records set by its predecessor Unshelved Volume 1, which is now entering its second printing (still want a first edition? There are a few left at our store and nowhere else).
Then there's the merchandise, which is largely driven by demand from you, the readers. Our Mad (About Reading) Cow shirt preorder was a big success, and we printed extra red and green t-shirts which are now available for immediate purchase. We also have a few orange Read Responsibly t-shirts and What Would Dewey Do? t-shirts and tank tops left over from our summer conference tour. A
