They say that paying taxes is a sign of success. But they don't say anything nice about actually doing taxes, and I think it's clear why. Still, Overdue Media LLC officially completed another profitable year as far as the federal government is concerned, and they're going to be receiving a token of our success in the next few weeks, in the medium of a check.
One of the fun things about the way inventory is taxed is that we don't get to deduct it until we sell it (or write it off as unsellable). We made a lot of stuff this year (mostly books), but since we didn't sell it all we are actually paying taxes on more money than we made this year. That can be rather challenging, and it makes me glad that currently both Gene and I have jobs. As cash crunches go, not being able to pay your taxes is not among the more fun.
