This week's Unshelved is sponsored by Reference Desk Press, publishers of Notable Last Facts.
Publisher Bill Brahms first showed us this hefty reference work last year, and we were both very impressed. Gene, the actual librarian of us, said it was a well-researched and useful reference book. And I just thought it was funny. We're pleased and grateful that they've decided to sponsor the next seven of our comic strips.
Today begins our fall speaking tour. Five talks in three states in three weeks. This morning we're heading out to speak at the staff day of the Kitsap Regional Library. Thursday we fly to Detroit to speak to the Michigan Library Association annual conference. Next week we're in Tacoma to speak at the staff day of the Pierce County library system. And in the first week of November we'll speak to the Seattle Public Library (where I get all my books!) and the New York Library Association. Whew! We'd better think of something to say... yes, that's a joke.
... didn't we just do a "no cell phones" sequence? Yes. But we discovered that we had a little more to say about it, so here are a few bonus strips on the topic. Meanwhile my friend Dave over at Sheldon has been doing a hysterical sequence on those Bluetooth headsets that make everyone look like they're the Borg. Not to be missed.
