This week’s sequence describes fairly accurately my recent Ukulele arc. Six months ago my main association was with Tiny Tim and the cheap plastic children’s toys of my youth. But my search for an instrument kept ending up with the Uke, and so I gave it a shot.
Four and a half months later I’ve memorized a few dozen chords, most of which I can play in real time. I’m having a ball playing along in a monthly music day featuring a bunch of Seattle homeschool parents. I’ve started to learn some fingerstyle playing. I even wrote a song.
If you’re interested in joining the four-stringed fun, I highly recommend subscribing to Ukulele Hunt. Author Al Wood is always turning up great performance videos on YouTube and supplying tabs for them. I also suggest you buying a few of his excellent eBooks.
And now I need to go practice!
