I had a chance to peruse this week's sponsor book, Nelson Mandela: The Authorized Comic Book. I admit I was apprehensive, because I've seen some BAD graphic biographies in my time. But this one really is quite different. It's authorized, and so the creators had the ability to set dramatic scenes with actual dialog (as opposed to a series of illustrated narrations, which is the norm). The art is done by a group of South African artists, and it's interestingly diverse in style. And the foreword by Mr. Mandela himself made me tear up a little. So go check it out.

There's just over a month left until Pimp My Bookcart 2009 stops accepting entries. We already have a page full but I know from experience that most will arrive in the next week or two, and the majority will land will less than a week to spare. Still time to start an ad hoc teen program in utility vechicle customization!
