I’ve been trying to get our friend Chris Hallbeck to write an Unshelved Book Club for a long time now, and I finally succeeded! (Begging was involved.) He writes and draws not one, not two, but three hilarious comic strips: The Book of Biff, Maximumble, and Minimumble. Gene and I first met him and his lovely wife Amanda at the first Webcomics Weekend, and it’s been true love ever since. Please give his comics a try. Perhaps you too will fall in love.
Elsewhere in this week’s Unshelved Book Club you’ll find books about a serial killer who drowns victims in their own blood, a boy with craniofacial anomalies, World War II, Dracula (if he’d won at the end of Stoker’s book), retailing, a secret river, Orcs, and a young man battling the 48 demons that each have a part of his body.
PS: We still have a few free VIP passes for librarians to attend Book Expo America this year. Check out the blog post and let me know if you qualify.
