At ALA this past weekend we started hearing stories about how folks are using our Library Notebooks in their libraries. As we had hoped, it turns out they have real therapeutic value.
Customer service interactions with difficult people can be quite traumatic, but our notebook allows folks to record them in such a way as to bring out the humor. It’s not just cathartic, it’s a form of helpful revisionism. Instead of remembering your day as a series of negative experiences, you can instead recall a bunch of funny stories. And that’s a recipe for happier library workers.
P.S. Did you use our notebook to record a particularly great story? Send us a photo of the page(s) in question, and we’ll share it with the world! And who knows, maybe it will end up as an Unshelved strip.
