Last Saturday, at the 23rd Toonie Awards, Cartoonists Northwest honored Bill and me with their Hall of Fame Award, a super cool plaque featuring a totem pole designed by Maureen VanderPas, the founding mother of CNW. (That’s her there sparkling and smiling on the left. CNW President Kevin Boze is hiding behind Bill.)
We were treated to a great time and a great dinner. Old friends cheered for us, we were serenaded by the nerdy and talented Keith Curtis and Kevin, Steve Gallacci (the man who first published Usagi Yojimbo) drew us a few pictures, and John Lustig sat next to me in a move of bald guy solidarity. It was a perfect night.
