…is reading it with my daughter. She was 10 when the first Zita book came out. It was immediately apparent that Ben gets girls of that age, and that he’d written a story that designed to suck in both dads and daughters! (I didn’t find out until later that he has four girls himself.) That first book wowed both of us with its sense of adventure and the amazing friends Zita made wherever she went. (The giant mouse, Pizzacatto, is still our favorite.) That Ben is as good-natured, heroic, and acrobatic as Zita in person is a bonus.
My daughter will be turning 12 a few days after The Return of Zita the Spacegirl is published, and it’s going to make quite a birthday present for her. All of the characters from the previous books make an appearance, and it’s a great end to Zita’s fun, fantastic adventure. After we read it together, I know we’ll both be hoping it’s not the last we hear of Zita or from Ben.
