Earlier this month Gene and I spoke to the staff of the Santa Clara County Library District. We had previously received a number of true-life anecdotes from staff members, and the day before the talk we wrote Unshelved strips inspired by five of them. I drew four of them on the computer, and we ran them last week, and sent signed prints to the contributors. Today’s I drew the old fashioned way, on paper with ink, and we sent the original to the contributor (we hope she’ll hang it in her branch). We had fun announcing the winners at the end of our talk, and went into a little detail on the process of writing and drawing the strips.
If you’d like to share in the fun, you too can hire Gene and me to speak at your staff day, meeting, or conference. I’m also offering a public program on cartooning while on my family RV roadtrip this coming year. You can find more information, including a schedule of upcoming appearances, on our talks & appearances page.
