At Monday's talk we had two A/V issues. Gene's wireless mike didn't have very strong output so he had to hold the little clip-on right up to his mouth. And the only place to put my laptop was about ten feet from where we needed to speak. A volunteer ended up pressing the spacebar for me on cue, but it wasn't a very satisfying arrangement for either of us.
We haven't jumped in and bought ourselves microphones yet, but I did pick up a Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless Presenter yesterday. It's awfully neat. Just the right size, just the right feel, and I can stray 50 feet from my laptop. The USB radio receive is stored inside the remote when it's not plugged into the computer. My favorite feature is the built-in timer which will lightly buzz me with five-minute and two-minute warnings. I'll be using it Friday at the Sno-Isle all-staff day in Lynnwood, WA, where Gene and I will speak to a record (for us) 420 people!
Such a geek am I that now I want to book more talks just so I can use my new remote.
