For, I believe, the first time, Gene and I exercised a privilege given to us by virtue of being a webcomic. We changed a punchline.

It happened like this: Gene had sent me a script for today's Sunday strip, but for various reasons didn't get to drawing it until last night. Even through several edits by yours truly the punchline wasn't, well punching. But he was not available and so I just put it up. Today he emailed me a fix that was much better, so I made the change. I have no regrets. This is a fluid medium. I revel in it.

For the record, Merv's original last line was "Yes, there is much wisdom here. My thanks."
